TD-SCDMA set to make September debut

Qinhuangdao, the coastal city in Hebei province, is set to become the launchpad for 3G in China. China Mobile plans to open its TD-SCDMA services there in September, said sina .com, citing unnamed sources.

The city, 300 kilometers from Beijing, was chosen because of its popularity as a domestic tourist destination, in particular among senior government and party officials.

Chen Hao Fei resigns as TD-SCDMA Forum boss

TD-SCDMA Forum secretary-general Chen Haofei has resigned from the post after four months, citing personal reasons.

Former secretary-general Wang Jing, currently an adviser to the industry body, will resume the post, Sina .com reported. Wang is a senior executive at Nortel and a member of the forum board.
