CommsXpress: Telstra Set To Offer LTE Service August 29th

Posted on: Monday, 8th August 2011

Telstra announced today that it would begin offering wireless broadband using dual-LTE and HSPA modems starting August 29th.

The initial service rollout will begin in the central business districts of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Pricing will start at $49 per month with 8GB of measured usage.

The company has thus far not made any claims as to what speeds customers should expect, but will likely be competing against the NBN Co in some areas where 15Mbps fixed wireless will soon be available.

Telstra plans on launching the service in all remaining Australian capital cites and additional high-population areas by the end of 2011.
